Thought to have been brought to the British Isles over 3000 years ago by Celtic tribal settlers from Central Europe, this agile and intelligent breed was originally used to protect children and flush out game from the countryside. Eventually they became helpful and hardworking farm hands, herding cattle and sheep for their masters. Their kind, gentle and never vicious nature makes them the ideal choice for helping to protect the herds and keeping them together as they graze.
